Build a quarterly business report

This guide walks through a concrete scenario: it's end of quarter, and you need to present at the Monday 10 am exec sync. All you have is an exported sales CSV, your own competitor notes, and a quarterly OKR doc. With VizChat, you should go from a blank storyboard to a narrated, ready-to-present report in one afternoon.

Scenario and inputs

Expected deliverables:

• A 10-slide Storyboard: performance summary, QoQ / YoY, top product lines, regional breakdown, competitor moves, next-quarter goals
• An interactive dashboard: the same data but explorable, shared async with team leads
• An exported .vizpkg: for the VP who's out on Monday to import and read through at their own pace

Source materials to upload into your Workspace:

Ten steps

1. Create a Workspace and a storyboard: click the VizChat mark in the top-left of the header to reach My Home, click "Create" in the My Workspaces section and name it 2025-Q1 Review, then create a storyboard inside it — that is the narrated, step-by-step format this report needs, and the document type is fixed at creation.
2. Upload materials: drag all three files into the file tree. The CSV is parsed as a table; the PDF goes through OCR and lands in the doc library.
3. Summon the Agent: in the chat panel, ask "Read 2025-Q1-sales.csv and summarize total revenue, QoQ growth, and top 3 product lines." The Agent parses the CSV and replies with a text summary.
4. Generate a bar chart: follow up with "Make a horizontal bar chart of the top 5 product lines and drop it on the canvas." The Agent creates a bar chart widget with the data filled in. Drag it into place.
5. Regional breakdown: "Now a pie chart by region, sorted by revenue share." You get a second widget.
6. Add commentary: add a rich-text widget below the charts and start with ### Key insights plus 3 bullet points. IME input works out of the box.
7. Organise the narrative: ask the Agent to arrange the content into a slide sequence, then adjust which widgets appear on each slide.
8. Configure narration: ask the Agent to write the narration for each slide. Its cue markers appear in the Cue editor below the canvas, where you can drag them to retime an event and hit play to preview.
9. Rehearse: back on the canvas, press Space to autoplay (see Keyboard shortcuts), use ←/→ to walk line-by-line.
10. Present and hand off: play it full screen at the meeting, and send anyone who missed it a .vizpkg export to import into their own workspace. (Link sharing is planned but not shipped.)
