Workspace Overview
A workspace is the top-level container in VizChat that organizes canvases, storyboards, documents, and assets — one account can own many workspaces.
A Workspace is VizChat's outermost container. It groups related documents (canvases, storyboards, rich text, images, media, dashboards, bookmarks) and is bound to a signed-in user. Think of it as a "project" or a "notebook": each workspace has its own file tree, its own document list, and its own AI conversation context.
One account vs many workspaces
Users and workspaces are a one-to-many relationship:
- An account can create any number of workspaces
- Workspaces are isolated from each other: documents, file trees, and AI sessions do not leak across boundaries
- Switching workspaces is done via the
WorkspaceSwitchercomponent in the top-left corner - Creating, renaming and deleting workspaces happens on My Home — click the VizChat mark in the top-left of the header to get there; it also gathers your creations, favorites and usage

Typical usage
- By project: one workspace per consulting engagement, research topic, or quarterly review
- By domain: keep daily exploration, client deliverables, and teaching material separate
- By time: long-running archives like "2025 Q4 product retro" or "Master's thesis"
